How to Get a Deep Face Detox While Exfoliating

The skin is the largest organ in the body. When people see articles online that say they need to detox their skin, they often worry. They don’t know how to go about doing so and worry their health will suffer as a result. What is a deep face detox, and why might a person need to do this?

What is Detoxing?

Detoxing the skin means removing toxins. These toxins come from different sources, including lifestyle choices, diet, and the environment. The body naturally removes toxins, although certain substances cause lasting damage. These substances include cigarettes and alcohol.

However, people worry that they need to do more. The articles they read make it seem like they will harm their health if they don’t take additional steps to remove these toxins. They may be interested in an exfoliating mask to help achieve this goal, or they might look for other products. Exfoliating the skin does come with benefits.

What is Exfoliation?

Exfoliation involves the removal of dead cells from the surface of the skin. The body naturally removes these cells every 30 days or so, but certain things can interfere with the process.

The natural aging process and oily skin could lead to these cells not shedding completely. The person is then left with clogged pores and dry, flaky patches. In addition, the person might experience more breakouts, or their skin could look dull. These unshed cells also reduce the effectiveness of skin care products. To prevent these issues, many people choose to exfoliate. There are two ways to do so.

Exfoliation Options

Physical exfoliation involves the use of a manual device to remove dead skin cells. This exfoliator may be a scrub the person uses when cleaning their face or it might be a tool they use to slough off the dead skill cells. However, people with sensitive skin might find they cannot use these products.

Regardless of which option a person chooses, the process smooths the surface of the skin while improving its radiance. Nevertheless, a person must take care. If they don’t do it properly, they can cause microabrasions

Chemical exfoliation, in contrast, involves the use of alpha and beta hydroxy acids to remove dead skin cells. These acids dissolve the bond between the dead skin cells to remove them. Plant-based products are also available for those with sensitive skin who react badly to the acids.

After using a chemical exfoliator, a person will find their skin is brighter. The texture improves, and the process helps address fine lines and pigmentation. People of all skin types find they benefit from this option, particularly those with oily skin and people who struggle with acne breakouts.

However, the person must know which type of chemical exfoliator to buy to detox the skin. Individuals who wish to address pigmentation, scarring, and acne should use an AHA exfoliator. Those with oily or acne-prone skin do best with a BHA exfoliant. For those people with sensitive skin, enzyme-based exfoliants serve as the best choice.

A person should never exfoliate their skin more than twice a week regardless of the option selected. Doing so could lead to red, raw skin and an unattractive appearance. Furthermore, a person should exfoliate gently to avoid damage. When they do so, they will find they have successfully removed toxins from the skin and look and feel great.
