Electricity is a requirement of all modern building structures around the world. However, this requirement differs in residential and commercial projects owning to various aspects. Subsequently, electrical systems are made with different capacities in both of them. For this, electrical estimating is prepared against the electrical drawings.
Some Common Roles of Electricity
In every building project around the world, different electrical systems are installed. These serve a fundamental role in the use of electricity in those buildings. Certain of those systems among all the possible ones are found in all sorts of buildings due to their common uses. These common uses are:
- Lighting for the building and the exterior
- Heating for the interiors as a whole or for individual rooms
- Ventilation for the whole building
- Management of the air quality for the indoor environment
- Security of the building through sensors
- Energy source for electronic devices
These are buildings used for residential purposes such as relaxing, sleeping, resting, and others. These projects are made as grounded and mobile as well as detached and attached. We spent most of our time in them but within that time we most sleep or engage in leisureful activities. These include rooms such as living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, lounges, laundry rooms, libraries, playrooms, and others.
These are often constructed away from the commercial activity on roads with lesser traffic and noise.
These are buildings that attend to business needs. These cover functions such as meeting points, workplaces, displays, and others. These can be in the form of a single-story four-walled structure or a towering building with a hundred stories and thousands of rooms. All sorts of commercial activities take place in these buildings such as meeting, dealing, discussing, working, and others. These buildings include rooms such as meeting rooms, conference rooms, common areas, IT rooms, private offices, outdoor space, fitness areas, locker rooms, mail rooms, and others.
These are often constructed on the main avenues to attract traffic and public transport.
The Difference in Usage
While both types of buildings use electricity, their usage is different in various means. These differences go as:
While residential buildings are used around the clock, commercial ones have set hours. For commercial buildings, electricity is only used during the set hours. This can assist in managing the alarm system and other systems. As the building is inhabited during the hours alarms are off and the rest of the system operates and vice versa.
The frequency and amount of usage in less in residential buildings, while commercial buildings with a much heavier load. Commercial buildings often more than residential buildings include some specific facilities such as elevators. These increase the load even further for the building.
The measure of backup supply is more stressed and used in commercial buildings than in residential structures. Commercial buildings need to run electricity-run facilities that need to operate without any halt. For this backup should be up and running to provide instant swift just as something goes wrong in the supply.
Similarly, in commercial buildings parallel circuitry is installed while residential structures often do have just luxury. This too is to ensure that if anything bad happens to the supply line, the auxiliary route takes over the supply and does not stop.
Electricity is used in every sort of residential and commercial building. Its usage includes both in a similar manner. Both of them have almost the same uses to keep life going. But these uses differ in certain manners related to the purpose of the buildings. These are discussed in the article above.
