What is the difference between RRB NTPC 2022 exam and RRB Group D exam? Are both the exams conducted every year?

RRB Group D Exam and RRB NTPC are different exams. However, both exams are conducted every year by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). The major difference between the two exams is RRB Group D Exam selects candidates for non-desk jobs in the Indian Railways, and RRB NTPC 2022 Exam selects candidates for non-technical jobs. NTPC stands for Non-technical Popular Categories. The exam is a gateway to desk jobs, including clerk, typist, accountant, etc., in the Indian Railways.

Eligibility Difference in RRB Group D and RRB NTPC Exam

To appear in the RRB Group D exam, you need to have at least a 10th class (matriculation) certificate, ITI or a diploma from a recognised educational institution.

Selection Process for RRB Group D and RRB NTPC Exam

Both the exams have four stages.

RRB Group D has the following process.

  • Computer Based Test 1
  • Computer Based Test 2
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Document Verification

Similarly, RRB NTPC Exam also has four stages.

  • Computer Based Test 1
  • Computer Based Test 2
  • Typing Test/ Computer Based Aptitude Test
  • Document Verification/ Medical Test

In RRB Group D Exam, all candidates, regardless of the post, must mandatorily appear for the physical efficiency test. However, in the RRB NTPC Exam, typing test is applicable to selected roles where good typing speed is required. For instance, a computer-based aptitude test is applicable for the post of traffic assistant. It is usually applicable for level 4 and level 6 jobs. While for level 2 and level 5, the typing test is applicable.
