Our future looks more like science fiction than it does reality, especially for those of us that grew up using rotary style phones and dial-up for our internet connections. The truth is, though, that the future is here, and it has turned our world into a tech driven society that needs more gadgets and less mundane tasks.
The smart home in 10 years will be far more advanced than they are today. The smart hub will be tasked with many daily chores that we all have to deal with today. You will be able to go to work and come home so you can relax, you will no longer have 8 hours of work at home after a grueling 8-hour day at work.
Let’s jump right in and take a look into the future. 10 years from now smart homes will no longer be an exception, but they will be built as the standard.

Robotics
Since we were small children, no matter what age you are now, we have watched movies depicting scenes from the future filled with robots. This is not very far from the truth. Every smart home in the world will have some type of robot that will be designed to help you get through the day by doing some of the daily household tasks that would normally fall on your shoulders to get done.
- Internets Required: For this to happen every smart home in the world will require one of the best NBN plans that they can get. Without a connection to the internet, the special features of the smart home will not operate effectively. Maybe someday soon the smart hub will be able to make its own form of internet, but for now we must find a good service provider that we can rely on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Kitchen Helper: Robots, or robotic hands, will be installed in the kitchen area to do everything from make a pot of coffee to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The smart hub will be able to know who is home, or who will be home, so the food and drinks can match the people that will be eating and drinking it. This means that you will not have to ever worry about the kitchen helpers cooking you pork when you prefer beef.
- Security: You will also see robots stationed outside of houses, patrolling the house like an alert guard dog. The smart home can see through the eyes of the robot, and hear through its sound enhancing sensors, and will be able to deter criminals before they even make it up to the window or doors. Whether they are verbally warned by the robot security guard, or a blaring alarm is set off, the criminal will not want to stick around. And while all this is happening a call will be placed through to the local police department so they can dispatch a deputy or two to come and arrest the perpetrator.
Sensors and More Sensors
The biggest change that we will all see from smart homes in ten years will be the use of sensors. This is not a new concept by any means. Homes and businesses use sensors all the time. The changes that will occur is that the entire smart home will be ran from sensors that connect all your devices to one central hub. Alarms will go off according to your work or social calendars, showers will be turned on and adjusted to the correct temperatures, coffee will turn on when you get out of bed, and so on. Sensors will control all the little things in life that we must all deal with today, making our lives much easier and way more relaxing.
Final Thoughts
We could probably go on and on until we completed a full book on how smart homes will look in 10 years, and beyond. A good way for you to see how things will be is to find a couple of episodes of the “Jetsons” and you will see what the future has in store for us.
